Blue 4

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Blue 4

I hope you have had a lovely summer! My name is Miss Field and I am looking forward to a wonderful year of teaching and learning with Blue 4. Mrs De Carvalho is working in the class as a training teacher, we will share the teaching of the class throughout the year.

Our topic for this term is Dreams where we will be learning about our hopes and dreams and how we can achieve them. In English, we are reading The BFG for the duration of this half term. Thorough the year we will be studying a range of topics including; Shakespeare and the Tudors, Habitats and life cycles and the human geography of South America.

P.E will be on a Thursday. Please ensure that your child brings their P.E kit in every Thursday. The School P.E kit consists of; a white T-shirt and blue bottoms (or shorts).

Swimming is on a Friday morning. Please send your child to school wearing their swimming costume with their underwear in their bag.

Reading/Book bags
Home reading makes a real difference to children’s learning and progress. Thank you for your support. It would be fantastic if you could spend 15/20 minutes each evening reading with your child, then sign the journal with a small comment about what you have read together. The journal needs to be signed before we can change your child’s book.

Just to remind you that school starts at 8:50 and finishes at 3:15. Children can come straight up to the classroom from 8:45.

If you would like your child to go ‘home alone’ with an older sibling please see the school office to complete the permission letter. If you are unable to collect your child please contact the school office with details of who will be collecting your child.

Please make sure the office has up to date details of any allergies or medical conditions.  Also, please ensure we have the correct contact details for you.

We will be doing Independent Learning projects this term and more information will be sent once this is underway. The children will receive a list of spellings and a maths task each week. Homework is due in on a Friday when spellings will also be tested.

I am available before or after school if there is anything you would like to discuss. Feel free to come and have a chat!

Best wishes,

Sarah Field
