Red 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you have a restful half term! Here is some useful information about the next half term.

Our Year 2 team is:

Green 2

Red 2

Mr James (Monday and Tuesday) & Miss Campbell (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) - Teachers

Miss Downer (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) & Mr James (Thursday and Friday) - Teachers

Miss Reggie – Teaching Assistant

Miss Dormady – Teaching Assistant/Nursery Nurse

Mrs Omonkhua – Year 2 HLTA

Mr Jose – Teaching Assistant and Spanish Teacher

Unfortunately, Ms Renauf Donaldson is unwell and will not be teaching in Green 2 this half term.

Our topic is:

‘Wear it Wild!’ which focuses on children exploring endangered animals and their habitats. In this Science based project learners will link their Science learning with our high quality and interesting texts ‘The Storm Whale’ by Benji Davies, ‘The Journey Home’ by Frann Preston Gannon and non-fiction fact files.

Children have an Independent Learning Book with a guided list of ideas about our project. These are just ideas and children are free to explore the project in other interesting and exciting ways should they choose. Please encourage your children to bring them in and share their learning with the class in the final week of the half term.

On Friday 10th January we will be visiting The Horniman Museum to find out how animals adapt to their homes. On Monday 20th January we will be visiting London Zoo to find out about endangered animals and their habitats.

PE kits:

Year 2 will have P.E with coach Nathan on Tuesdays and will need their PE kits. We will continue to have swimming and Enrichment at STAC on Wednesdays.

Red 2 and Green 2 boys will need their swimming kits on Wednesdays.

Red 2 and Green 2 girls will need their PE kits on Wednesdays.

Other information:

A gentle reminder that the classroom opens at 8:45am and school starts at 8:50am. Please make sure that your child is in school on time so that they do not miss out on any learning. Listening to your child read daily will help them to improve on their fluency and asking them questions about what they have read will help their comprehension – please record this in their reading record – we really value your comments about the book and/or their reading, which will be changed weekly.

Many thanks,

Year 2 Team
